Upcoming Beauty Innovations 2013

Hey everyone!

So recently I've been on the scope for new beauty products and looking out for all the latest beauty trends and I actually came across a few products and concepts that I thought I would share with you.  I think its always important to keep up with the latest concepts as they're going to lead the way for future beauty products and I feel it gives us all an idea what to expect.  So lets get stuck in to the future of beauty!

Okay so, the first trend I've been spotting is 3-D make up which uses chroma 3D technology.  3-D makeup has been created to add intense shine and reflective qualities.  It will also provide an intense and dramatic look for the eyes, lips and cheeks.  Soap and Glory have already released a follow-up product from their much loved 'Sexy Mother Pucker' and adapting it to 'Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick 3D'.  Most 3-D make up is expected to hit the scene in fall 2013.

The beauty world has been buzzing with excitement for the next product, Micellar Water.  Micellar waters have actually been around for a few years but have never been available in UK stores.  Micellar water is a cult favourite with make up artists and beauty experts.  What is micellar water I hear you ask?  Well, it's a water based cleanser with extremely small drops of oil within the formula.  These help break down dirt and remove make up.  Micellar Water is free from alcohol and soap, so it's perfect for sensitive skin.

L'oreal 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution.

My next spot has been slightly more publicised than the rest, but I still don't feel there has been enough of an excitement about this.  HAIR CHALK.  I don't know if I am the only one who is super excited by these types of products but hey ho.  I think they're so fun and perfect for parties, nights out, fancy dress or even everyday to brighten up a boring ponytail!  I'm eager to try these out as soon as possible!

Hair Artist - Hair Chalk

Okay, so we've all heard of Moroccan Oil for your hair, but what about Moroccan Oil for your skin?  This oil has been a life savers to my hair and now you can provide your skin with the same pampering as your hair.  The oil is said to provide instant nourishment and moisture as well as providing a nice 'glow' to your body.

So that is just a couple of upcoming beauty finds that I stumbled across.  If you have come across any beauty innovations for 2013 please let me know, I'm eager to hear about them! Until next time!

De-Stress From Your Exams!

Hey Guys!

So I know its exam time for a lot of you and exams can cause stress to build up.  I've just finished my exams so I've personally been trying to de-stress over the past few days and I thought I would share some of my favourite ways to release stress from your body! So without further ado!

  1. The first thing sounds really cheesy and silly but believe me it actually works! Just a simple smile releases stress.  Smiling, even when you don't feel happy, can instantly lift your mood and make you feel 10 times better!
  2. The second thing I really love and 100% recommend is meditation.  I love this and I actually use an app on my phone to help guide me through the process.  The app that I use is called 'Headspace' and I really do advice you all to try it.  Whenever I use it I feel instantly refreshed and I feel like I have slept for 10 hours! Its genuinely incredible.
  3. Another great thing to do to help relieve stress is to take some time out and call a friend who you maybe haven't spoken to in a while.  Often, just talking to a friend about anything can make you feel better and help cheer you up (after all, if your friends can't cheer you up, who can?).
  4. The next thing is one of my favourites.  Get up and have a little boogy to your favourite song!  Dancing, even if you are just being silly, can instantly lift your mood.  I love being able to get up and groove and just have a laugh to myself about it!
  5. Another idea would be to take a walk.  It doesn't sound like much but taking a walk along the beach or in your local park.  Taking some time out and getting some fresh air can really help clear your mind.   If you have a dog, you could take them and have a little play around with a toy, you'll both enjoy yourself!
  6. This final idea is a classic.  Take a lovely relaxing bubble bath with your favourite scented candles and favourite bath bombs.  You could even take in a magazine and just chill for a bit.  A bath is one of the most relaxing things you can do.
Meditation can really help you unwind.

Why not take a friend with you for a walk in the park and a good old gossip?

A relaxing bubble bath with soothe your mind and body.

The Great Gatsby

To celebrate the release of the new remake of The Great Gatsby, I've put together some 1920's inspired looks to highlight the great fashion and great make-up of the Gatsby Era. Whatever your opinion is of the movie, there is no point in denying that the clothes weren't fabulous.  Everything to the beading, the lace, the feathers, the sequins made the women look incredibly feminine and classy.  So I have put together a few different outfits inspired by The Great Gatsby that could be easily pulled off by anyone.

The Great Gatsby Movie Poster - Now in Cinemas.

So my first outfit just oozes glamorous and gatsby-ness.  Although it is a little on the pricer side, it would be so worth it because its such an easy, classic and timeless look.  It would probably quite easy to find cheaper alternatives for some of the items in this look such as the shoes but the key piece is defiantly the dress.

Outfit 1 - Total cost = £138.97

The next outfit is also a little pricer, but that is purely because the dress is a limited edition from Topshop.  I love this look because its so glam and totally 1920's.  Its almost as if the Era has been tied up neatly into one little outfit.

Outfit 2 - Total Cost = £148.98

My Favourite SS13 Nail Polishes

Hey everyone!

Today's post is all about the nails! As the weather starts to heat up, so does the colour on my nails! I thought I would just share with you my favourite spring/summer colours for this year! So lets get started.

  • The first colour I'm going to talk about is one of my favourite Essie colours! It's Bikini So Teeny.  If the name of this colour doesn't already make you feel summery, then you just have to take a look at the gorgeous colour! It's a pastel blue that reminds me of the light blue seas in summertime.

  • The next shade is another Essie colour, however this is a colour from their Resort collection.  Come here! is such a hot coral which skews slightly more on the red side.  I absolutely love coral colours on my nails and I think this shade would suit any skintone.  Defiantly a bright colour for bright days.
Essie - Come Here!

  • I've also really been loving Butter London's Sweet Shop Collection, especially Jasper.  Jasper is a stunning pastel yellow.  The only thing I found about this colour was that it was quite streaky on the first coat, but after a few coats the colour really shows.  This is a summer hit for sure.

  • The next colour I literally just picked up so I don't have a swatch picture.  Its part of the Models Own fruit pastel collection and I got the shade Grape Juice which is a lovely lilac colour.  These nail polishes are really unique as the are scented.  However I'm yet to try it to see if the scent will remain on your nails.

So all in all, I really adore all of these colours and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anybody.  There is not a single doubt in my mind that I will be wearing these colours all summer because they're all stunning.  I love them all so so much and I will speak to you all very soon!

Throwback Thursday

Hi guys!

Today I thought it could be quite funny to do a throwback on all the old beauty products I first used when I started wearing makeup! I probably won't be able to include everything I first used because I'm racking my brain trying to remember everything I used as it is! So without further ado, lets get started!

Okay, foundation was one of the first beauty products I started using.  I can remember it being really orange and not at all right for my skintone but at the time, I didn't really know any better.  The foundation I used was from Avon and it was the calming effects illuminating foundation.  It was an okay foundation but the colours were far too dark for my pale skin! Wouldn't recommend if you're pale like me!

Avon Calming Effects Foundation

The next thing I remember using was pencil eyeliner. God knows why I used to go out with foundation and eyeliner on my waterline.  Wow I just rocked it.  However the eyeliner I used is still one of my favourites today! I used the Rimmel kohl eyeliner in black.  Its really good value for money however it can feel quite tough on the waterline.

One of the first mascaras I used was the Avon supershock mascara (black).  This is a really nice mascara and I seem to pick it up again every few months.  It does make my eyelashes very voluminous and big.  I really do like this mascara however I could also live without it, its not one of my must haves but it wasn't bad for my first buy.

Avon Supershock Mascara

I'm already aware that I have a lot of Avon products in this post but I think that's mainly because I probably purchased all of these at one time.  But I absolutely remember this lipstick being my first.  Its the Avon lipstick in carnation. This is still one of my staple lipsticks, its such a gorgeous colour.  I don't think I could of picked a better shade for my first lipstick, its perfect for me and I would 100% recommend it.

And that my friends is my very first makeup products! I was going to include lipgloss but honestly my very first lipgloss I probably had would be when  I was around 7 and it was probably Disney princess or something.  I thought this post was quite unique and a pretty cute Thursday idea!

Speak soon!

They're Real Mascara Review

Hey guys!

I don't know if you already know (a lot of you probably do) but with this months Elle magazine, you receive a free mini they're real mascara by benefit.  If you haven't heard of this mascara, do you live under a rock??

They're real is one of the most hyped about mascara on the youtube/bblogger scene.  I've heard so many good reviews about this mascara, I was super excited to try it! So I ran out to grab the Elle magazine in desperation to give they're real a go!

The first time I tried it, I coated it over the mascara I was already wearing.  That was my reason for not liking it.  It didn't seem to make any real difference to my lashes at all.

So the next day, I applied it straight after curling my lashes, and uh oh, still didn't like it.  The mascara did not show any different results to the mascara I'm currently using (maybelline define-a-lash) and I was super disappointed.  I don't know if its just my lashes, but it really didn't lengthen or volumise my eyelashes at all.  I feel like I might be doing something wrong with this because I've heard so many good things,  but what can I be doing wrong, its just mascara??

As well as this, the mascara made my eyelashes really solid and difficult to even move, and they were so heavy feeling!  I hated the feel of my eyelashes when they were coated with it!

Also, removing this mascara was really difficult for me.  I basically had to scrub to get it all off.  This made some of my eyelashes fall off, which I HATED.  I don't have the best lashes, so losing some was not helping.

So overall this mascara didn't work for me at all and I was super disappointed.  Let me know how you guys found it if you've tried it before! Ill post some pictures with they're real on my lashes, and for comparison, the Maybelline define-a-lash mascara. I do apologise for the picture quality/size, I had to steal them from my instagram (subtlecoral)

Daily Skin Care Routine!

Hey guys!

Today I'm just going to be taking you through (you guessed it from the title) my daily skin care routine!!
Now I am a teenager so I do have pretty spot-prone skin which can be pretty challenging but I've sussed out that this routine really helps me. So let's get to it!

  1. First of all, I splash my face with some lukewarm water just to stimulate the skin and to prepare it for the products I'm about to apply.
  2. Next I like to apply some of the Dermalogica daily microfoliant by pouring a teeny amount into the palm of my hand, then adding a few drops of water to it until its at the right consistency, then apply it gently to my face swirling it in a circular motion to deeply exfoliate my skin and rid it of all the old skins cells and any other dirt. I then wash this off by using clean warm water and splashing it off my face.
  3. After this I use the Dermalogica clean start wash off to cleanse and clean my face. I apply this in the same kind of way by dispensing a small amount into the palm of my hand, adding a few drops of water, and swirling it across my face. I then also rinse this off in the same way, by splashing my face with lukewarm water.
  4. The next product I use is the Dermalogica clean start overall toner.  And I apply this by lightly spraying it all over my face, being careful not to get any into my eyes.
  5. And finally, I like to finish with the Simple light moisturiser by applying this to the tips of my fingers and blending it in all across my face and neck.
So there we are, my simple yet effective, kick acne butt, skin care routine! I would just like to highlight that Dermalogicas products may be slightly on the pricer side but they really are worth it.  I've tried so many different drugstore brands and none compare. I'll list all the products below for you guys with links to the Dermalogica and Simple websites.  Thanks so much and I'll speak to you all very soon!

Mac Pro Palettes (Old VS New)

Hey guys!

This is just going to be a pretty short, opinion based post!

Okay the new Mac Pro palettes.

I don't know about you guys but I personally hate the new mac 15 eyeshadow and 6 blush palettes.  I don't like the fact that they're see through in the lids, I much preferred the matte black ones! I think if your anything like me being able to hide away the slight mess that may be lurking was a defiant bonus of the old mac palettes.

Further to this, the price of the new palettes is almost double the old palettes. The reason behind this is that the old palettes came fitted with inserts whereas the new ones need any inserts purchased additionally. I used to think that paying £11.50 for an empty palette was a slight rip off, but it's far worse now. In my opinion it's just another way for mac to get the money out of our pockets.

In conclusion, I think I'll cancel any future palette plans I had made and stick to single pots.

Ps. If you guys have any idea where I can find the old palettes for the same price, please tell me about it. I checked eBay but a lot of sellers were charging a higher price because they are now discontinued.
